After almost a year of Covid-19 horror there is a perspective again. The Covid-19 vaccinations in the Netherlands have started! The Dutch government made a planning of who gets their vaccination when.
The planning of vaccinations in the Netherlands
The planning is to vaccinate the care professionals in hospitals and elderly homes first. After this older people with an illness and other vulnerable people will get the vaccine. The third phase is to vaccinate healthy people who are aged 60 and above. As from the end of Q2 all people above the 18 years can get their vaccination.
Vaccination is voluntary
Vaccination is voluntary in all cases. Should you object to vaccination then you can reject your invitation.
However, recent research indicates that more than 75% of the Dutch population has the intention of taking the vaccine.
How do you receive your invitation?
All ‘healthy’ people who are registered as residents in the Netherlands will receive an invitation if it’s their turn. So you don’t have to take the first action yourself. Upon receipt of your invitation you can make an appointment for your vaccination.
The only thing that you have to do is make sure that you are registered as a resident of the Netherlands in the BRP (Basic Registration Persons) This is automatically the case if you registered at you local community.
People who are eligible for earlier vaccinatin will get invited by their family doctor or hospital.

My personal thoughts about the vaccinations
If I would receive an invitation now I would immediately accept it. I am so much looking forward to a world with less grief. A world where we do not have to regard each other as a potential health threat. A world in which we can make our own choices again. Some things may appear to have changed forever, I hope that in the end those changes will be good for the earth and for our wellbeing.
